9. I, John, your brother who share with you in Jesus the persecution and the kingdom and the patient endurance, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

10. I was in the spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet

11. saying, “Write in a book what you see and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamum, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

12. Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands,

13. and in the midst of the lampstands I saw one like the Son of Man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash across his chest.

14. His head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; his eyes were like a flame of fire,

15. his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of many waters.

16. In his right hand he held seven stars, and from his mouth came a sharp, two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining with full force.

17. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he placed his right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,

18. and the living one. I was dead, and see, I am alive forever and ever; and I have the keys of Death and of Hades.

19. Now write what you have seen, what is, and what is to take place after this.

20. As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

9. मैं यूहन्ना तुम्हारा भाई हूँ और यातनाओं, राज्य तथा यीशु में, धैर्यपूर्ण सहनशीलता में तुम्हारा साक्षी हूँ। परमेश्वर के वचन और यीशु की साक्षी के कारण मुझे पत्तमुस नाम के द्वीप में देश निकाला दे दिया गया था।

10. प्रभु के दिन मैं आत्मा के वशीभूत हो उठा और मैंने अपने पीछे तुरही की सी एक तीव्र आवाज़ सुनी।

11. वह कह रही थी, “जो कुछ तू देख रहा है, उसे एक पुस्तक में लिखता जा और फिर उसे इफिसुस, स्मुरना, पिरगमुन, थूआतीरा, सरदीस, फिलादेलफिया और लौदीकिया की सातों कलीसियाओं को भेज दे।”

12. फिर यह देखने को कि वह आवाज़ किसकी है जो मुझसे बोल रही थी, मैं मुड़ा। और जब मैं मुड़ा तो मैंने सोने के सात दीपाधार देखे।

13. और उन दीपाधारों के बीच मैंने एक व्यक्ति को देखा जो “मनुष्य के पुत्र” के जैसा कोई पुरुष था। उसने अपने पैरों तक लम्बा चोगा पहन रखा था। तथा उसकी छाती पर एक सुनहरा पटका लिपटा हुआ था।

14. उसके सिर तथा केश सफेद ऊन जैसे उजले थे। तथा उसके नेत्र अग्नि की चमचमाती लपटों के समान थे।

15. उसके चरण भट्टी में अभी-अभी तपाए गए उत्तम काँसे के समान चमक रहे थे। उसका स्वर अनेक जलधाराओं के गर्जन के समान था।

16. तथा उसने अपने दाहिने हाथ में सात तारे लिए हुए थे। उसके मुख से एक तेज दोधारी तलवार बाहर निकल रही थी। उसकी छवि तीव्रतम दमकते सूर्य के समान उज्वल थी।

17. मैंने जब उसे देखा तो मैं उसके चरणों पर मरे हुए के समान गिर पड़ा। फिर उसने मुझ पर अपना दाहिना हाथ रखते हुए कहा, “डर मत, मैं ही प्रथम हूँ और मैं ही अंतिम भी हूँ।

18. और मैं ही वह हूँ, जो जीवित है। मैं मर गया था, किन्तु देख, अब मैं सदा-सर्वदा के लिए जीवित हूँ। मेरे पास मृत्यु और अधोलोक की कुंजियाँ हैं।

19. सो जो कुछ तूने देखा है, जो कुछ घट रहा है, और जो भविष्य में घटने जा रहा है, उसे लिखता जा।

20. ये जो सात तारे हैं जिन्हें तूने मेरे हाथ में देखा है और ये जो सात दीपाधार हैं, इनका रहस्यपूर्ण अर्थ है: ये सात तारे सात कलीसियाओं के दूत हैं तथा ये सात दीपाधार सात कलीसियाएँ हैं।

9. നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനും യേശുവിന്റെ കഷ്ടതയിലും രാജ്യത്തിലും സഹിഷ്ണതയിലും കൂട്ടാളിയുമായ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്ന ഞാൻ ദൈവവചനവും യേശുവിന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യവും നിമിത്തം പത്മൊസ് എന്ന ദ്വീപിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

10. കർത്തൃദിവസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ആത്മവിവശനായി:

11. നീ കാണുന്നതു ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതി എഫെസൊസ്, സ്മുർന്നാ; പെർഗ്ഗമൊസ്, തുയഥൈര, സർദ്ദീസ്, ഫിലദെൽഫ്യ, ലവൊദിക്ക്യാ എന്ന ഏഴു സഭകൾക്കും അയക്കുക എന്നിങ്ങനെ കാഹളത്തിന്നൊത്ത ഒരു മഹാനാദം എന്റെ പുറകിൽ കേട്ടു.

12. എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ച നാദം എന്തു എന്നു കാണ്മാൻ ഞാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു.

13. തിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഏഴു പൊൻനിലവിളക്കുകളെയും നിലവിളക്കുകളുടെ നടുവിൽ നിലയങ്കി ധരിച്ചു മാറത്തു പൊൻകച്ച കെട്ടിയവനായി മനുഷ്യപുത്രനോടു സദൃശനായവനെയും കണ്ടു.

14. അവന്റെ തലയും തലമുടിയും വെളുത്ത പഞ്ഞിപോലെ ഹിമത്തോളം വെള്ളയും കണ്ണു അഗ്നിജ്വാലെക്കു ഒത്തതും

15. കാൽ ഉലയിൽ ചുട്ടു പഴുപ്പിച്ച വെള്ളോട്ടിന്നു സദൃശവും അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം പെരുവെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഇരെച്ചൽപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യിൽ ഏഴു നക്ഷത്രം ഉണ്ടു;

16. അവന്റെ വായിൽ നിന്നു മൂർച്ചയേറിയ ഇരുവായ്ത്തലയുള്ള വാൾ പുറപ്പെടുന്നു; അവന്റെ മുഖം സൂര്യൻ ശക്തിയോടെ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.

17. അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു ഞാൻ മരിച്ചവനെപ്പോലെ അവന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ വീണു. അവൻ വലങ്കൈ എന്റെ മേൽ വെച്ചു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ, ഞാൻ ആദ്യനും അന്ത്യനും ജീവനുള്ളവനും ആകുന്നു.

18. ഞാൻ മരിച്ചവനായിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഇതാ, എന്നെന്നേക്കും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മരണത്തിന്റെയും പാതാളത്തിന്റെയും താക്കോൽ എന്റെ കൈവശമുണ്ടു.

19. നീ കണ്ടതും ഇപ്പോൾ ഉള്ളതും ഇനി സംഭവിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്നതും

20. എന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യിൽ കണ്ട ഏഴു നക്ഷത്രത്തിന്റെ മർമ്മവും ഏഴു പൊൻനിലവിളക്കിന്റെ വിവരവും എഴുതുക. ഏഴു നക്ഷത്രം ഏഴു സഭകളുടെ ദൂതന്മാരാകുന്നു; ഏഴു നിലവിളക്കു ഏഴു സഭകൾ ആകുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

15. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;

16. for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers—all things have been created through him and for him.

17. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

18. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything.

19. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

20. and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

15. वह अदृश्य परमेश्वर का दृश्य रूप है। वह सारी सृष्टि का सिरमौर है।

16. क्योंकि जो कुछ स्वर्ग में है और धरती पर है, उसी की शक्ति से उत्पन्न हुआ है। कुछ भी चाहे दृश्यमान हो और चाहे अदृश्य, चाहे सिंहासन हो चाहे राज्य, चाहे कोई शासक हो और चाहे अधिकारी, सब कुछ उसी के द्वारा रचा गया है और उसी के लिए रचा गया है।

17. सबसे पहले उसी का अस्तित्व था, उसी की शक्ति से सब वस्तुएँ बनी रहती हैं।

18. इस देह, अर्थात् कलीसिया का सिर वही है। वही आदि है और मरे हुओं को फिर से जी उठाने का सर्वोच्च अधिकारी भी वही है ताकि हर बात में पहला स्थान उसी को मिले।

19. क्योंकि अपनी समग्रता के साथ परमेश्वर ने उसी में वास करना चाहा।

20. उसी के द्वारा समूचे ब्रह्माण्ड को परमेश्वर ने अपने से पुनः संयुक्त करना चाहा उन सभी को जो धरती के हैं और स्वर्ग के हैं। उसी लहू के द्वारा परमेश्वर ने मिलाप कराया जिसे मसीह ने क्रूस पर बहाया था।

15. അവൻ അദൃശ്യനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിമയും സർവ്വസൃഷ്ടിക്കും ആദ്യജാതനും ആകുന്നു.

16. സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ളതും ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതും ദൃശ്യമായതും അദൃശ്യമായതും സിംഹാസനങ്ങൾ ആകട്ടെ കർത്തൃത്വങ്ങൾ ആകട്ടെ വാഴ്ചകൾ ആകട്ടെ അധികാരങ്ങൾആകട്ടെ സകലവും അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ മുഖന്തരവും അവന്നായിട്ടും സകലവും സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. അവൻ സർവ്വത്തിന്നും മുമ്പെയുള്ളവൻ; അവൻ സകലത്തിന്നും ആധാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. അവൻ സഭ എന്ന ശരീരത്തിന്റെ തലയും ആകുന്നു; സകലത്തിലും താൻ മുമ്പനാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ ആരംഭവും മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നു ആദ്യനായി എഴുന്നേറ്റവനും ആകുന്നു.

19. അവനിൽ സർവ്വസമ്പൂർണ്ണതയും വസിപ്പാനും

20. അവൻ ക്രൂശിൽ ചൊരിഞ്ഞ രക്തം കൊണ്ടു അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി, ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതോ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ളതോ സകലത്തെയും അവനെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നോടു നിരപ്പിപ്പാനും പിതാവിന്നു പ്രസാദം തോന്നി.

24. But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

25. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

26. A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

27. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”

28. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

29. Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” The Purpose of This Book

24. थोमा जो बारहों में से एक था और दिदिमस अर्थात् जुड़वाँ कहलाता था, जब यीशु आया था तब उनके साथ न था।

25. दूसरे शिष्य उससे कह रहे थे, “हमने प्रभु को देखा है।” किन्तु उसने उनसे कहा, “जब तक मैं उसके हाथों में कीलों के निशान न देख लूँ और उनमें अपनी उँगली न डाल लूँ तथा उसके पंजर में अपना हाथ न डाल लूँ, तब तक मुझे विश्वास नहीं होगा।”

26. आठ दिन बाद उसके शिष्य एक बार फिर घर के भीतर थे। और थोमा उनके साथ था। (यद्यपि दरवाज़े पर ताला पड़ा था।) यीशू आया और उनके बीच खड़ा होकर बोला, “तुम्हें शांति मिले।”

27. फिर उसने थोमा से कहा, “हाँ अपनी उँगली डाल और मेरे हाथ देख, अपना हाथ फैला कर मेरे पंजर में डाल। संदेह करना छोड़ और विश्वास कर।”

28. उत्तर देते हुए थोमा बोला, “हे मेरे प्रभु, हे मेरे परमेश्वर।”

29. यीशु ने उससे कहा, “तूने मुझे देखकर, मुझमें विश्वास किया है। किन्तु धन्य वे हैं जो बिना देखे विश्वास रखते हैं।” यह पुस्तक यूहन्ना ने क्यों लिखी

24. എന്നാൽ യേശു വന്നപ്പോൾ പന്തിരുവരിൽ ഒരുവനായ ദിദിമൊസ് എന്ന തോമാസ് അവരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

25. മറ്റേ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ കർത്താവിനെ കണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാറെ: ഞാൻ അവന്റെ കൈകളിൽ ആണിപ്പഴുതു കാണുകയും ആണിപ്പഴുതിൽ വിരൽ ഇടുകയും അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു കൈ ഇടുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. എട്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പിന്നെയും അകത്തു കൂടിയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തോമാസും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വാതിൽ അടെച്ചിരിക്കെ യേശു വന്നു നടുവിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു: നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. പിന്നെ തോമാസിനോടു: നിന്റെ വിരൽ ഇങ്ങോട്ടു നീട്ടി എന്റെ കൈകളെ കാൺക; നിന്റെ കൈ നീട്ടി എന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു ഇടുക; അവിശ്വാസി ആകാതെ വിശ്വാസിയായിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. തോമാസ് അവനോടു: എന്റെ കർത്താവും എന്റെ ദൈവവും ആയുള്ളോവേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

29. യേശു അവനോടു: നീ എന്നെ കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു; കാണാതെ വിശ്വസിച്ചവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
